International Standards Density (Buoyancy Method):
ASTM D792 - DIN 53 479 A (withdrawn) - DIN EN ISO 1183-1 - ISO 1183-1 - ISO 2781 - JIS Z 8807 - VDA 675 106 (withdrawn) - a.o.
For density determination using the buoyancy method, 7 high-precision laboratory balances are available in our laboratory.
The buoyancy method, also called immersion method, is an effective method for density determination of plastics and elastomers.
Based on Archimedes' principle, the polymer sample is immersed in a liquid of known density. For this purpose, we use distilled water as the immersion liquid in our laboratory. The density of the polymer is determined ascertained by determining the buoyancy force in which the sample is weighed in air and liquid.
The density is a characteristic material value and thus relevant in the areas of incoming goods inspection, quality assurance, design and calculation, among others.
